What makes a pitch land
Stop at the point of no return
A pitch takes the reader to the moment the protagonist can no longer walk away, and stops. Unlike a synopsis, it never resolves.
Name the cost, not the stakes
"The world will end" is a scale, not a stake. What this person loses if they fail is the line an agent remembers.
Try all three angles aloud
The same book pitched on its dilemma, its conflict and its premise sounds like three books. The one you can say without apologising is yours.
Cut every adjective a review would use
"Gripping", "unputdownable" and "heart-stopping" describe a reaction you are asking for rather than a story you have.

What is a two-line pitch?
The hook a query letter opens with: one line establishing who the protagonist is and what breaks their ordinary world, one line on what they must do, what stands in the way, and what failing costs. It is sometimes called an elevator pitch or a logline.
How is a pitch different from a synopsis?
A synopsis tells the whole plot including the ending, for an agent judging structure. A pitch withholds the ending entirely, because its only job is to make someone want to read on.
Why three pitches instead of one?
Because which angle works is a judgement about your book that only you can make. Leading on the character's dilemma, on the central conflict, or on the premise of the world produces genuinely different pitches from the same material.
Will it invent things my notes do not say?
It is instructed not to, and to report what is missing instead. If your notes do not establish a protagonist or a central pressure, it will say so rather than fill the gap.
